The Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) has warned its affiliated colleges that they will have to face action if they demanded capitation fees or any kind of donation or any favour from the students for securing their admission. Last year, there were complaints regarding demand of capitation money by some technical and management colleges.

According to UPTU authorities, last year, the university had either reduced or cancelled the management quota of 11 colleges, which had demanded capitation fees from students. To avoid any such incidents this year, the UPTU has issued a circular to all the colleges stating that if any complaint was received about demand of capitation fee or donation, a high-level committee will probe the matter and action would be initiated against the institute.

The circular also stated that charging of any extra fees other than the fixed fee structure will be considered as contempt of the University Act.

Colleges have been asked to make arrangements to create awareness among the students and employees on this issue.
